FORT PACKER
More than a brand.
My name is David Plant. I’m a former Kingman and I was seriously injured by an IED while serving in Afghanistan in 2010.
My injuries changed my life, but they didn’t take away my drive to keep moving forward.
Fort Packer has grown out of my own experiences of rebuilding a life after leaving the Armed Forces — and from seeing how difficult that journey can be for other veterans too.
THE MISSION
There are a huge number of organisations and charities in the UK offering support to veterans. Yet, despite all of that support existing, some veterans still fall through the net.
Sometimes the biggest problem isn’t that help doesn’t exist.
It’s getting someone back to a place where they’re able to reach it.
That’s where I want Fort Packer to go.
My long-term goal is to develop a way of supporting veterans who have become isolated, overwhelmed or disconnected — meeting them where they are, earning their trust and helping them take the steps needed to reconnect with the organisations and services that can support them.
I see it as mentorship, guidance and someone standing beside them while they find their way forward.
It’s an ambitious goal and I’m not pretending that it can happen overnight. It will require proper planning, safeguards, partnerships, funding and a great deal of work.
Right now, I’m at the beginning.
WHY FORT PACKER?
Fort Packer is my way of building towards that mission.
I’m developing the brand, taking on challenges and creating products that people can genuinely enjoy wearing and owning.
Every purchase supports the growth of Fort Packer and helps me continue building towards what I ultimately want it to become.
As Fort Packer grows, so can what we’re capable of doing.
I want to build something sustainable that can eventually make a real difference to veterans who might otherwise be missed.
Not by trying to replace the brilliant organisations already out there.
But by helping people get back to a place where they can access them.
THIS IS JUST THE START.
There is a long road ahead, and I’ll share that journey openly as Fort Packer develops.
